Coleman Russell
TJCL Historian
12th Grade
Memphis University School
[email protected]
Bio
As the 2026-27 historian, Coleman plans to keep up the good work of the former historians. His goal is to engage with TJCL year round through the social media pages. Fun facts: his favorite Roman historical figure is Cato the Younger; his favorite mythological figure is Arachne; his Latin motto is “Amicus Plato, sed magic amica veritas” (Plato is my friend, but truth is a better friend); and his favorite part of JCL is, in his words, "the pervading belief that Latin is something that should not be discarded as an antiquated product of its time, and that it has usefulness outside of just another language to learn to be able to read what two millennia old dead guys said." Outside of JCL, he has hobbies such as cross country/track, tennis, reading and writing, tennis, and coding.
