Sponsor's Resources   10/8/05

I added a Sponsor's Resources section to TJCL.org. There you can find stuff of interest for sponsors. The first addition to the section is the 2006 TJCL Membership Form. More stuff should be added later.

Membership Forms   9/27/05

We (the State Chairs) have been working on the membership forms & have nearly finished them. We will send them out to you within the next week or so. We are very sorry for them to be going out so late in September, but some changes had to be made due to the changed dues structure from NJCL.

Thanks.

New Webmaster and Some Updates   8/8/05

Hm, well, it appears that I've been given reign over TJCL.org. Evan will probably still be around, but I'll be doing most of the information updating and whatnot. The TJCL Government 2005-2006 page has been updated and will continue to be updated for a bit. As of now, I don't have all of the Sponsor Officers. I seem to be missing Caitlin Kopp's email, too. If any of you have some of that information to share, please email me.
Also, I've been working on getting the rest of the Rossview 2005 convention results up. I've got a few of the smaller ones up, and I'll be working on getting the bigger lists up soon. Anywho, that's about it for now.

Edit:
I've put all of the Rossview 2005 results up. Check them out by clicking on "TJCL Convention" to the right.
Edit 2:
Hrm, edit heavy! Ok, well, Michael Bergen has so kindly given me the email address of our Historian, and you can now reach our Historian at historian@tjcl.org. Oh, and Austin pointed out that Evan's 2005 Academics results page didn't have schools on it. So yeah, I trashed it and uploaded a new version. Sorry, Evan. :P

It's Spirit Time!   7/25/05

So, now that everyone is doing their last minute preparations for Nationals, I have information on spirit from Natalie Jones, TJCL 2nd VP.

Here's how it goes:

Tuesday is Wild, Wild Midwest day. Everyone wears their state t-shirts on Tuesday, which will be handed out the night before at Fellowship. Wear cowboy hats, jeans, boots, etc, whatever you come up with, but don't do vests or anything that would cover up the t-shirt.

Wednesday is Purple and Gold day. As always, TJCL will provide purple and gold colored t-shirts, so don't worry too much about this.

Thursday is themed Spirit of St. Louis, so we're going to dress up as airplanes (calm down, folks - I've heard of stranger happenings). Wear a grey t-shirt that will be complimented by various other accessories to be provided by Natalie.

Finally, Friday is, as always, a Day in Old Rome. Wear your togas!

If you have any questions, send them to me or direct to Natalie. Her e-mail is secondvp[at]tjcl[dot]com. Make the necessary replacements.

Check here for any last minute anouncements.

Clarksville Study Sessions   7/8/05

Ok, guys. Here's what I know about the study sessions this summer: I know that they will be 10:00 - 3:45. I know that there's a lunch break. I don't know exactly when it is.

Morning Afternoon
Monday Latin I
Tuesday Geography Roman History and Mythology
Wednesday Roman Life Greek History and Latin Literature
Thursday Derivatives Grammar and Certamen
I have also been told that all Certamen tryouts will be held on July 14. Upper Division will be in the morning, Lower Division in the afternoon, and Novice will be in Memphis. Also, the powers that be are selecting only 4 players this year for each division. This means no rotation between rounds, so start brushing up! (And let me know who makes the Upper team)

Results Are Up? Now?   4/26/05

That's right, folks. I've been working hard, and I'm proud to say that Sweepstakes and Academic results for TJCL State Convention 2005 are now online at http://www.tjcl.org/state/2005. Bet you never thought you'd see results up within the week, didja?

In any case, Best of Show, Certamen, Creative and Graphic Arts, Olympika, and, wait for it, maybe even Publicity Contest results will be following soon.

This Concludes the 49th Annual TJCL Convention   4/23/05

Well, it's over. It's really hard to try and write about it, because being an officer this year was such an amazing experience, and I'm missing it already.

Mr. Long is supposed to be e-mailing results to me, and I will post them as quickly as possible.

This is the time for the website and the forum to gain momentum it hasn't had since Nationals, and I beg everyone involved here, especially new officers as they start visiting, to help and build off of the energy of convention so that we can take this website to new heights.

Those of you that are newly elected officers: Mr. Williams is supposed to be sending me contact information so that I can set up your TJCL.org e-mail addresses and such. In the mean time, if you're feeling impatient and excited you can go ahead and e-mail me the stuff yourself and I can set things up. I need name, school, e-mail address, and phone number and home address if you want to give it out. It's a very good idea for Historian and Co-Editors to send me your full contact information so that people are capable of contacting you with photos, stories, etc.

I know that Historians and Editors are always desperately in need of pictures. If you have any from State or any JCL event, please send them to those two officers or me.

Outgoing officers, if you want to retain a TJCL.org e-mail address, I can set you up with office2005@tjcl.org. Just let me know.

There is currently no Technology Coordinator. If you are interested in that position, contact Mr. Warren or Mr. Williams.

To conculde, here are your new 2005-2006 officers, as best as I can remember them (and I apologize for any mispellings or errors):

President: Michael Bergen
1st Vice-President: Caitlin Thomas
2nd Vice-President: Natalie Jones
Secretary: Molly Ellis
Parliamentarian: Sara Jones
Historian: Caitlin Kopp
Edit:
Torch Editors: Alicia Stiles and Alex Trent

And please accept my sincerest apologies, but I can not recall at the moment the names of the Torch Editors. I will post that as soon as I find out.

NJCL Convention Packets Are Here   4/10/05

Can you believe that it's already April? Only three and a half months (give or take) until Nationals! Point being, it's time to send off the forms to reserve your place. NJCL will be accepting packet request forms through May 15, although you should probably send yours in sooner to ensure a space. Read the form carefully, as there are a few details to watch for. And here is the link for the NJCL Convention 2005 Packet Request Form.

Ah yes. And for those completely in the dark, Nationals this year will be at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, from August 1 - August 6 (Mon-Sat)

As far as transportation goes, most of the usual methods will be in place. I believe that Hume-Fogg and MLK will be traveling together as usual (contact Ms. Howell or Ms. Sanford), and Mr. Long will be organizing a bus for anyone interested. Anyone with other information about transportation to Nationals can let me know if they would like it to be posted here.

Prefiling Over   3/9/05

All right, folks. The deadline for prefiling has now passed; applications will no longer be accepted.

Sam (our Parliamentarian) is announcing a State of Emergency in the following offices:
President
Secretary
Parliamentarian

If you have any interest in running for any of those offices, please be sure you attend Nominations Committee as a non-voting delegate, along with your sponsor: further nominations will be accepted at that time.

I have no information on the state of applicants for TJCL's appointed officers: Torch Editor, Historian, and Technology Coordinator. Anyone with interest in these offices should contact Mr. Warren or Mr. Williams directly.

Prefiling Form Now Available   1/6/05

Sam Ginsberg, 2004-2005 TJCL Parliamentarian, has sent me the form for prefiling for TJCL state office. The form can be accessed at http://www.tjcl.org/government/prefile_form.

Speaking as a TJCL officer, let me say that it a wonderful experience, and I highly encourage all of you to run for an office.

ADDENDUM: Sam has written up a description of each of the offices. Those who are considering prefiling should read these for guidance in choosing an office. The descriptions can be found at http://www.tjcl.org/government/offices
